I'm pleased to announce that opening day of Sox Fest was a huge success this year. I'm glad that the citizens of Chicago heeded my warnings, since they were not mentioned for my own benefit.
I'd like to take this time to mention how very proud I am of my daughter, Abigail, for standing up for such a noble cause. I do know how much she hates public speaking. She definitely didn't inherit that trait from her father.
Regardless, she did an excellent job. Her cause is one that this entire family stands behind, and will continue to do so for as long as it takes to help rid this city of gang violence - even if that takes months, years, decades.
But let's hope it doesn't come to that.
